A dare devil young man Jaggu (Jackie Shroff) is Kachara Seth’s aceman who is quite close to Tina (Pooja Bhatt), a pretty young girl, running a dying factory along with her Aunty. The time takes sharp turn… Jaggu’s mother is hospitalised for an emergency operation and he is compelled to accomplish an important drug assignment of Kachara Seth… But he is arrested and his family is totally ruined. Soon Kachara Seth finds alternative of Jaggu, a dashing and dynamic young man, Raja (Anil Kapoor), who too loves Tina… Meanwhile Jaggu comes out from jail and kills a man who instrumented for his arrest. Kachara Seth puts Raja and Jaggu at draggers drawn following a conspiracy. Later with the help of Tina, Raja and Jaggu became close friends. Kachara Seth takes the advantage of this love triangle and starts his game plan… Further in a sudden development Raja comes across a shocking disclosure about Jaggu. This evokes a sensation drama of revenge, conspiracy, and emotions raising lines of qustions.

Richard Donner’s 1978 epic about the Man of Steel showed how a film about a superhero could be a moving and romantic experience even for people who long ago gave up comic books. Beginning on the icy planet Krypton, the story follows the baby Kal-El, whose rocket ship lands in Smallville, Kansas. He is found there by a childless couple and raised as the shy Clark Kent (the young Kent is played by Jeff East). The film is perhaps most touching in these sequnces, with expanses of wheat fields blowing in the wind and with a young man who can’t figure out what part in destiny his great powers are meant to play. The second half, with Reeve taking over as Clark/Superman, is bustling, enchanting (the scene in which Superman flies girlfriend Lois Lane–played by Margot Kidder–through the night sky is great date material), and funny, thanks largely to Gene Hackman’s sardonic portrayal of nemesis Lex Luthor. –Tom Keogh

One simple qustion, people: Do you know where you’re goin’ to? And furthermore, Do you like the things that life is showin’ you? These qustions are posed in the unavoidable theme song (a huge Seventies hit) from Mahogany, a splashy, diva-sized vehicle for Diana Ross. Miss Ross was hot off her unexpected and critically approved starring role in Lady Sings the Blus when she embarked on this musical, a rags-to-riches saga of a Chicago girl who dreams of being a fashion designer but becomes a supermodel instead. Original director Tony Richardson was replaced behind the camera by Motown founder and puppetmaster supreme Berry Gordy, who knew something about turning Ross into an idealized vision of femininity (for more on their relationship, check out the fictionalized version in Dreamgirls).
Ross looks a little overwhelmed by the plot machinations, which take her from the orbit of a regular-guy activist (Billy Dee Williams) into the glam world of European fashion–the latter courtesy of a cranky, unstable photographer played by Anthony Perkins. Perkins is sky-high fun in this thing, as though he suspected the movie was in trouble and decided to let the tics and nerviness fly. These days Mahogany is treasured either as a fond childhood memory or as a ripe camp-fest, and that’s probably about where it belongs. Still, it looks positively restrained next to the other big diva musical of the same historical moment, Barbra Streisand’s 1976 A Star is Born. –Robert Horton
